The Local Initiatives Support Corporation, known as LISC, is one of the largest organizations supporting projects to revitalize communities and bring greater economic opportunity to residents. As one of LISC’s local offices, we provide capital, strategy and know-how to our Twin Cities community development partners.
$734 million invested through grants, loans, and equity
$2.9 billion leveraged in additional linvestments in local projects
17,404 new or preserved affordable homes and apartment
2.4 million square feet of new or renovated commercial and community space
8,000 people have improved their financial stability through our Financial Opportunity Center partners
Communities are constantly evolving, which can be frustrating or exhilarating. Twin Cities LISC’s Corridor Development Initiative (CDI) works to elevate the latter by bringing the voice of the community forward to guide future development. CDI creates the ability for communities to grapple with change and have some agency over how change happens.
LISC has named a prominent local leader with decades of experience in state and county government to take the helm of its Twin Cities program office. Peter McLaughlin, as the new executive director, will build on more than $700 million in LISC Twin Cities investments over the last 30 years as he leads new efforts to expand economic opportunity throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul.
From the unprecedented $1.5 billion we invested last year in people and communities across the country, to our burgeoning collaborations with sectors ranging from tech and healthcare to sports and local government, the LISC 2018 Annual Report is chock full of good news, good numbers, and good ideas. These resources and strategies propel us on our journey to shape a brighter future for all our nation's residents. And that, in a nutshell, is the heart of LISC's mission. Read on!
