Michigan LISC is working with CDCs and other closely aligned neighborhood intermediaries to identify and evaluate different approaches to organizing their work in community development. The overall goal of this effort provides participants with both the tools and the insights into how to make critical choices regarding how, when and why an organization would want to work collaboratively with others to design, manage or implement a comprehensive community development strategy.
LISC AmeriCorps has recently awarded member positions to partners in Flint. Sites are now seeking dynamic and passionate individuals ready to gain experience and build organizational capacity. In order to make this happen, LISC and each site bring match dollars to positions. We would like to thank the Accelerator Program and our host sites for their support! Positions begin in October.
In the course of our incredibly busy work year, it’s easy to forget to take a step back and reflect on the gifts we receive every day. Thanksgiving can be that reminder: to take stock of the extraordinary efforts of our partners and the members of the communities where we invest, efforts that catalyze opportunity and wellbeing for all Americans.
Our commitment to helping house homeless and at-risk veterans won’t let up until there are no more ex-military men and women living on the streets. It’s hard work, especially in hot, high-cost markets. In honor of Veteran's Day, we're highlighting the creative solutions and partnerships that build supportive housing communities and make it possible for us reach our collective goal.
