LISC Jacksonville broke ground last April on renovations at Yancey Park, a community park in the Forestview area. Crews worked tirelessly to bring the improvements to life as local kids watched with excitement. Finally, after months of dedication, officials from LISC Jacksonville, Northwest Jacksonville CDC, the Jacksonville Jaguars and the City of Jacksonville were able to celebrate the completed renovations last month.
The park’s recent upgrades were funded in part by a $100,000 grant from the LISC/NFL Grassroots initiative. LISC Jacksonville and Northwest Jacksonville CDC oversaw the project, which included highlights such as the park’s new Bermuda grass turf fields, new scoreboard, state-of-the-art irrigation system and more.
Yancey Park hosts youth sports including football, baseball, softball and cheerleading through the Forestview Athletic Association. The park is one of 12 active parks that LISC Jacksonville and the NFL have helped revitalize in the city. The various projects have totaled more than $1 million in costs, reflecting LISC’s dedication to helping urban neighborhoods and communities thrive. Play on, Yancey Park!
